He is author of more than 30 peer-reviewed articles, a book, and myriad datasets and has over 2000 citations to his work. In 2008, Shellman founded Strategic Analysis Enterprises (SAE), Inc. which concentrates on developing and advancing research and software systems to bolster national security. Under SAE, Shellman completed multiple phases of ICEWS and transitioned technology, data, and models to US Strategic Command’s Integrated Strategic Planning and Analysis Network (ISPAN) CAT-1A Program of Record. Since 2008, Shellman has procured and managed research funding from agencies such as DARPA, ONR, AFRL, ARL, and CTTSO producing software, technologies, and data for transition to multiple operational customers. The work spawned additional accomplishments in automated sentiment analysis , automated discourse analysis, machine learning techniques to draw causal inferences, forecasting methods and models, and, most recently, course of action analysis tools.Dr. Shellman’s 20 years of research and development experience encompasses work with academics and universities, small and large defense-related companies, commercial companies, start-ups, financial and investment firms, and provides a strong background to draw on in building out analytic solutions for a wide range of problems and challenges.
