Corporate Controller
Began as a consultant, but was hired shortly into the engagement, when the previous controller of six+ years gave no notice of their departure. I was brought in to take over all corporate accounting, finance, and reporting functions as well as manage two staff accountants, one of which joined a month before I did. This was in the midst of closing year-end, beginning an audit that I had zero historical exposure to, and ensuring the day to day operations of the company stayed intact. In the 6+ months since I've joined, I've implemented policies and platforms to streamline operations, created best practices and documented processes, and created redundancies to optimize the function of a small team, as well as navigated through managing the audit to completion. The impacts were:Reduction in DSO from 45+ to 21+ and DPO from 52+ to 31+Consolidating AP, corporate credit cards, and expense management into one systemEliminating manual payment processingMultiple historical clean-up and account reconciliation projects with extremely limited support, specifically related to payroll, taxes, and benefitsManaged audit to completion and created best practices through findingsCross-trained and mentored junior staff to increase efficiency and utilization resulting in elimination of contractor expensesCreated and presented all internal/external financials, including senior executives and board of directors
