CurrentArtist BiographySteve Simon was raised outside Chicago by immigrant parents from Luxembourg. He has a BS in mechanical engineering and an MBA. By his late twenties he had worked and studied on four continents as a robotics engineer and management consultant. While on a consulting assignment in Paris, he rented an apartment in the famous artist’s quarter of Montmartre. The Parisian art scene worked its magic on him and it quickly became clear to him that the latent artist screaming from within needed to be acknowledged. In response, in 1994, at age twenty-nine, he moved to California where he began painting landscapes and seascapes. Demand for his work prompted him to open his own gallery on scenic Balboa Island, California. He has since produced a broad portfolio of work and published seven art books of his paintings. Inspired by the peace he found through a more honest acknowledgment of his true calling, he has committed himself creatively to what he deems the “artful pursuit of peace and harmony.” This commitment is evident in the serene quality of his landscape paintings and even more directly through his most recent collection entitled The Great Peacemakers. The collection includes representational paintings of 34 luminaries who helped bend the arc of the moral universe toward peace and well-being.Steve resides in Londonderry, New Hampshire with his wife and daughter.
