Taking the leap into self employed status and founded Alltrade with a small overdraft and big ideas. The advent of DTH satellite within the UK with Sky made the very niche market somewhat larger and I continued to grow steadily year on year to become arguably the leading distributor to the installation and retail trades. Pioneering computerisation in our industry in 1989 and live data to our website from 1995 also first to offer (still unrivalled) next day delivery across our fleet of vehicles from 1997 and I continue to strive to improve the company services and product ranges on offer to this day. Always looking to grow in 2001 we became multi branch and took over the facility and staff in Cardiff Wales from Longreach as they were in terminal decline. We learnt fast and over the next few years invested in remote technologies to grow the branch network and all stock and customer data was live. In 2004 we relocated the head office and started using VoIP the branch numbers grew only when opportunities arose rather than push for expansion. Looking to diversify I visited the Cedia show at Exel and fell in love with AV & CI this is where we go next, expanding this sector and assisting our customers with training to join this growing area. Branch growth continued and during the pandemic we added Northampton and Glasgow due to the demise of Solutions Group taking on as many as we could of their staff. Buying out the competition in Littlehampton, Magherafelt and the midlands has grown our network to now 14 Branches across the UK, now covering approximately 90% of postcodes with our own delivery fleet and just under 100 staff, we’ve come a long way from the start way back in ‘88!

After the devastating storms of 1987 I joined the manufacturer Target Aerials based in Aylesbury whose wish was to exploit the potential in the South of England and I set up operations for a trade counter location to assist expansion. Initially targeting local tradespeople I dealt with all marketing, pricing, sales representation, delivery and accounting turnover quickly grew and a permanent counter location was secured in the September of 1988. The position was on a year contract and was mutually agreed not to be renewed as Target Aerials had already begun on its journey to its ultimate demise.
