I have always sought out change. Looking for the challenge of the next assignment, the next conversation, the next horizon. A restlessness, trying to find that perfect arc between creativity and commercial success. From life as an Architect to the hard yards at McKinsey, from my own successful start-up to the main board of one of the UK largest retailers, and from the powerhouse of PwC to life as a NED – eclectic it may be, but I would call them all “home”. The sweet spot is in translating complexity into simplicity, a love of listening to the detail, of imagining the possible, and driving teams to create and realise a vision for success. Reinvention is the common denominator I guess, and in part that is why I am naturally attracted to Retail, the industry sector that inspired me, I love making sense of the constant change, focusing on customers to create unique experiences. My skills mix is a blend of applied analytics, creative interpretation, clear communication, project management, assured powerful delivery - all combining into what others have called inspiration. Leadership may be one thing, but learning through my family restores the baseline, ballast and banter that gives my life richness, reminding me that patience, humility, the love of family and friends recharges the batteries for simply being a better human.
