As a teacher, I like to leverage Edtech in my classroom to accelerate learning through meaningful activities that facilitate student progression through academic language, content-based disciplinary skills, ISTE, and CASEL standards. Technology allows for increased leveraging of student voice and choice, as well as precise differentiation to allow students to pursue individual pathways. This frees the teacher from repetitive and laborious tasks, and allows us to develop in the art of instructional design and the mastery of our craft: that is building deep relationships, increasing student motivation, augmenting cooperative learning and collaboration through problem-based interdisciplinary projects. With this vision, I hope for a future where the science of learning melds with the art of teaching to blur the roles of teacher as master of academic content with coaching and counseling to open the road for students to unlock unseen potential through stimulating new connections for higher learning, career advancement, and civic participation. I thrive in EdTech and educational environments filled with curious, passionate and smart educators who are conscious of creating a sense of belonging for all.
