Data Analyst

Current

Richland, Washington, United States

With a focus on database management and data visualization, I am developing new skills in MSSQL Server and Tableau. Beyond data analysis, I am responsible for table, view, and query building along with other basic database management responsibilities in SQL. Among the SQL Server capabilities I have developed are automated e-mail queries, SQL pivots, and recursive queries. I am fascinated by SQL Server code and enjoy my continued development in this area.Tableau presents a more familiar challenge of visualizing data with a new tool. Basic coding abilities have been useful for creating custom fields and parameters for more powerful visualizations. I have created dozens of visualizations and published 9 new dashboards while maintaining existing reports. I also maintain our IT Ticket system for any reporting needs. I have updated and created new Excel reports, most of them using queries to access our databases.

Feb 2021 - Present

Volunteer Instructor

On school days I teach high school students a formal early-morning religion class. I prepare lessons, engage in discussion and lead in object lessons to help conceptualize in new ways. I also administer end-of-term exams, grade, and keep regular attendance. I meet with other instructors on a regular basis to organize group events and share ideas.

2017 - Mar 2021

Commercial Analyst

I led focus teams on divestment projects, coordinating multidisciplinary efforts to prepare assets for market tests. Responsible for reviewing the portfolio to identify assets to consider for divestment. Described and quantified assets along entire value chain, generating visualizations, maps, presentations and databases. Negotiated asset purchase and sale with external parties to exceed internal valuation. While in this role I established best practices for map generation in ArcGIS to represent surface assets. Using data-driven pages I used cartographic principles to map wide-ranging asset types in large databases.

2020 - Feb 2021

Geoscientist

Fort Worth, Texas

I started work under the XTO umbrella, drilling horizontal wells in the Barnett shale. I encouraged making geosteering standard practice and I used Boresight to steer old wells that had never been steered before. I steered ~120 previously drilled wells and determined percentage in given zones, thickness, location, azimuthal orientation and "toe-up" or "toe-down" against production to determine the most important parameters. I also planned and coordinated drilling efforts for 9 of the final wells ExxonMobil drilled in the Fort Worth Basin. I used ArcGIS to make surface use maps to propose wells and pad sites. After a year I transitioned to Midcontinent assets, primarily stewarding Hewitt field, an old conventional field with hundreds of active wells under waterflood. I proposed a new 3D seismic survey and oversaw planning and execution of the shoot. I subsequently used the survey to plan and oversee drilling of 7 new, successful vertical oil wells. I was assigned to train and teach 2 geologists to the group on drilling and conventional log evaluation techniques. Contemporaneously I worked broad areas of non-operated assets in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas, evaluating hundreds of proposals ranging from drilling wells, recompletions, coring projects and seismic shoots. I recommended and presented on each, using various software including ArcGIS for mapping and Petra. While working Midcontinent assets, the STACK play became more active. I planned and drilled 2 successful wells that extended the play onto our operated acreage. I also planned and drilled 2 wells that established a new play concept on our acreage.

Sep 2012 - Dec 2020

Graduate Teaching Assistant

For my efforts I was recognized with the award for Outstanding Teaching Assistant which is awarded annually.I was also the Graduate Teaching Assistant for 3 Dynamic Earth lab classes with similar responsibilities of instruction and grading.
