It was difficult to decide to step down and once Ive learned to “let go” and got used to not setting the alarm clock each night, I’m expecting to enjoy a slower pace of life and to read more about Siemens growing order book, particularly those bids not yet turned into contracts !The pipeline of opportunities looks ideally matched to Siemens competence so I know my team are going to continue to be busy well into the future, and successful as well. BREXIT, HS2 review and CP6 seem to have slowed the construction industry temporarily and so I've had 6 months off. A career break is recommended although I hadn't planned it that way. Hungry now to get back into the rail contracting business and I start a brilliant new position at end of Jan. Can't wait.

On 11/7/19, Aspin Group collapsed into administration. One of the most rewarding experiences in my career working with a great team who were receptive to new ways of working and welcomed my experience and advice on technical, commercial and strategic approaches to a wide range of bids. Despite the collapse, the whole bid team advanced and the bidding standard was raised to a new level.
