Responsible for supporting the national Chief Allied Health Professions Officer by providing clinical and professional expertise and leadership, both to and from the allied health professions. Part of leadership team, provide evidence based strategy and policy advice and guidance to the NHS and wider healthcare and social care system.

The AHP Regional Lead (Regional Lead) role provides assurance for the allied health professions (AHPs) linked to delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan and regional strategic priorities. Providing visible strategic clinical leadership for AHPs within the region, accountable to the regional medical director and linked to the national Chief AHP Officer. This role provides assurance and supports planning in the region through the medical directorate senior management team, developing AHP strategic provider capability and aligning frontline clinical teams to strategic priorities. This is achieved through provider visits, creation of learning resources, communication through multiple channels and delivery of engagement events. Autonomously identifying and responding to complex regional AHP quality issues, developing enhanced assurance processes where needed and developing reporting infrastructure. Providing accessible strategic support and advice to AHP managers and staff across the region demonstrating professional leadership. Through links with national teams and wider programmes of work, supports and leads the implementation of key AHP resources and deliverables from across arms-length bodies. Supporting reduction in unwarranted variation and promotion of evidence-based AHP service delivery, through joining up programmes of work and dissemination of valuable AHP tools and guidance.Providing constructive challenge to AHP provider leaders, AHP staff and strategic stakeholders to enhance the AHP contribution to strategic objectives. Creates, develops and links a range of AHP networks to bring together expertise and evidence for regional programmes of work. Autonomously develops strategy, achieves business cases, builds networks and leads complex programmes of work to support delivery of national and regional AHP strategic goals and regional quality deficits.

Trustee board members provide oversight, governance and strategic advice to the charity in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. As the charity's clinical lead trustee, providing additional assurance, specific support and guidance to the trustee board on the charity's strategic direction with respect of clinical services and its clinical responsibilities under relevant legislation, regulation, ethical and professional standards. Additionally, a member of the charity's beneficiary services committee.

As part of Care City Board, collective responsiblity and scruitiny of governance for Care City in line with the requirements of the Companies House and the Community Interest Company Regulator.Contribution to the development of organisational strategy and strategic advice in support of the CEO, staff and Care City work programmes.

As part of the Practice Development directorate management team, I develop strategic and operational plans as well as manage budget lines across a broad range of projects. I manage a team of professional officers covering a range of portfolios relating to the context and infrastructure for physiotherapy and the UK health economy. This includes scope of practice for physiotherapy, commissioning policy, implementing policy into practice, service redesign, new models of care, health informatics, leadership development, return to work, public health, national guideline development, evidence based practice, outcome and experience measurement and regulatory responsibilities. I also manage the content development and programme delivery at the annual national physiotherapy conference, Physiotherapy UK. I routinely represent the physiotherapy profession with national stakeholders, on national working groups and provide media comment when appropriate. I also support expert members to do likewise, in collaboration with other teams within the organisation. I support many formal and informal member networks, providing expertise where needed and collaborating with clinicians, researchers, educators and others where possible. I lead the CSP’s health informatics work. This includes shaping the physiotherapy profession’s approach to use of quality assurance, promoting routine data collection and engaging with external stakeholders to help develop multi-professional tools and infrastructure for clinicians. Most recently, I co-led the CSP’s development of SNOMED CT subsets in support of the NHS ambition for a paperless NHS. Recently, I presented our approach at SNOMED EXPO (Wellington, New Zealand) and am actively developing national and international opportunities to collaborate and implement this work.

- Providing professional advise for CSP members. Particular areas of specialty include health informatics, commissioning policy, patient outcomes and experience- Supporting the CSP committee structures. Includes committee briefings, providing ad hoc policy or technical expertise- Working on projects relating to health informatics, commissioning policy and patient outcomes/experience. Includes producing briefing/information papers to members, contributing online articles or articles for the physiotherapy trade magazine, running workshops, speaking at national conferences, representing the CSP at various MDT and external stakeholder consultation groups- CSP representative on the National Allied Health Professional Strategic Taskforce (NAHPIST), chaired by the NHS England Chief Health Professions Officer- Health Informatics consultations / influencing including NHSmail, RCP record keeping headings and national commissioning specifications - CSP reference group representative on Arthritis Research UK's MSK-PROM programme. This is a clinical and patient supported programme (lead by ARUK and supported by the NHS England PROMs team) to design, pilot and implement a systems wide M-PROM- Providing support, including coopt attendance when required, to the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance (ARMA)- Consulting / influencing CCGs, health boards, international private healthcare organisations and other high level stakeholders relating to AHPs and national policy- Providing media interviews for matters relating to physiotherapy (includes national print media, trade media and radio interview)- lead for producing "PhysioWorks" briefing documents. These are evidence based briefings for the purpose of influencing commissioners and other key decision makers- theme lead at national Physio UK 2013 conference.
