Working as a dedicated consultant for the SLaM NHS Trust, providing full Project Management and Building Surveying services in conjunction with their hospital and property portfolio.Works include live environment refurbishment of Acute Psychosis Wards, reconfiguration and fit-out works to bring antiquated disused Ward spaces up to a compliant standard in terms of fire safety, infection control, health and safety, Building Regulations, etc.; to provide regenerated Ward space for Trust utilisation. Works also comprise the roll-out of specific ligature reduction scopes throughout live environment areas, and the design and implementation of specialist entrance security solutions to remediate existing absconsion issues.

Working through my limited company SMV Surveying Ltd, I was involved in the refurbishment of 75 No. Subway sandwich store refurbishment schemes across the whole of London.

Working through SMV Surveying Ltd (incorporated in August 2012) as a dedicated in-house Consultant. Work includes general building surveying services in conjunction with the maintenance and refurbishment of University buildings (some of which are of Grade 2, Grade 2*, and Grade 1 listed status), to bring up to current standards in terms of both spatial demands and Building Regulations; and to meet challenging client briefs. My role also entails a full Project Management service to clients across campus, from taking the initial project brief, appointing and managing the design team, preparing the necessary Gateway documentation, working up designs in close liaison with the client and framework consultants, procuring the scheme, and running the project through to completion on site, with all of the necessary statutory authorities such as Conservation, Brighton and Hove City Council / Lewes District Council Planning Departments, the University’s internal Health and Safety Department, etc. In conjunction with each of the abovementioned roles, I have also been heavily involved in varying moves processes across the whole of campus. This requires me to take full responsibility for the coordination of the moves, managing all aspects inclusive of staff and their specific individual requirements, furniture, IT, telecoms etc. My informative client communication and management of staff expectations also contribute to the delivery of an excellent moves service. I am fully capable of preparing comprehensive moves schedules and associative fully annotated CAD layout plans, to ensure that a full package of moves information is provided to facilitate successful completion.

Work entailed undertaking full asset surveys on behalf of Network Rail, comprising “reconnaissance”, “separate” and “all” surveys to their Atrium system format. Stations surveyed range from larger end of line traditional Victorian stations such as Bognor Regis, West Sussex; to more contemporary stations such as Hastings, East Sussex. I am fully familiar with the F-Value asset scoring system, the use and amendment of Marlin Maps and station drawings, and generally preparing the complete survey documentation for inputting into the Atrium system.This role saw me working independently at various stations across the south of England; undertaking the complete survey on site and preparing the full survey packages complete with cross referenced appendices, back in the office. This required effective time management, attention to detail on site to ensure all necessary information was captured, and good people skills working alongside the many different walks of public that pass through station buildings and grounds.

As a Building Surveyor, I was able to work with a wide discipline of property and construction issues ranging from the conversion and refurbishment of existing buildings, through to rights of light and dilapidation issues. I was active in undertaking the following roles:• Design and specification of new and refurbishment projects.• Analysis of defects and pathology reports.• Full building surveys of residential and commercial properties.• Rights of Light assessment.• Dilapidation advice for both tenant and landlord.• Disabled access audits and adaptations.• Schedules of condition.• Planned maintenance advice.• SAP assessments.• Contract administration.• Employer’s agent.• Feasibility studies.• Risk assessments.I was required to undertake Contract Administrator responsibilities on varying projects ranging from planned maintenance programmes to wheelchair access lifts installations; refurbishment of university laboratories, designing, specifying, obtaining planning, listed building and building regulations approval as necessary; and overseeing works on site. I developed full AutoCAD software literacy and completed large quantities of varying drawing work from 3D modelling to Full Plans applications and Building Regulations submissions. I was also required to prepare contracts, and have experience with both JCT and GC Works contracts. I developed a good rapport with a wide range of both private and commercial clients, and earned much repeat business following the successful delivery of projects on programme, within budget, and in accordance with client requirements.
