About Steve Walker

I am a senior U.S. diplomat with over 30 years of experience successfully managing policy, ideas, and people in Washington and challenging hardship/danger posts overseas. I have a strong background in leading diverse cross-functional teams, developing and mentoring talent, and maintaining staff morale and productivity, even in highly stressful environments. I am unafraid of difficult conversations and holding employees accountable for poor performance or misconduct. I have a track record of balancing risk and reward to operate effectively and safely in insecure environments. I am able to navigate bureaucratic inertia, change-resistance, and government regulations to get things done. I am an excellent public speaker and writer with a proven ability to distill complex matters into actionable ones.
