MOTN was formed in 1994 as a non-profit corporation with the express purpose of promoting, supporting, and expanding the marine technology manufacturing and service businesses within the state of Massachusetts. The state recognized that Massachusetts had become a hotbed of oceanographic technology, and provided seed money to form a network that would foster cooperation and synergy within this industry to encourage the development and expansion of local business opportunities. in 2000 MOTN's charter was expanded to include membership from all of the New England states, from Maine to Connecticut

From 2000 – 2004, served as Executive Director of the Marine & Oceanographic Technology Network (MOTN), a northeastern US based industry trade association made up of over 50 industry, government and academic members who are all involved in the development and manufacture of ocean related technologies and/or providing various support services to the industry. MOTN organizes networking events, provides outreach to other MS&T organizations around the country and internationally, and helps to maintain the industry’s presence with local state and federal leaders

The NERACOOS mission is:·To lead the development, implementation, operation, and evaluation of a sustained, regional coastal ocean observing system for the northeast United States and Canadian Maritime provinces, as part of the United States Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS®).·To promote the development, assessment, and dissemination of data and data products that meet the needs of end users. ·To advocate through education and outreach for the regional, national, and global ocean observing system and the application of scientific assessments using environmental data to meet societal needs.

Supporting WHOI's Technology Transfer Office with the review and assessment of new and innovative oceanographic and environmental technologies for commercial application and potential licensing.

From 2005 - 2014, delivered professional consulting services to Newfoundland & Labrador Department of Innovation, Trade & Rural Development relating to the economic development of the province's ocean technology industry internationally.

From 2007 - 2011, supported the conference organizers (New Wave Media) in developing the Ocean Industry Outlook program as well as coordinating all of the on-the-water technology demonstrations, training sessions and workshops for this international ocean industry event.

Supporting the RTDC's efforts to identify and exploit opportunities to transfer marine and environmental technologies from regional ocean institutions, such as WHOI and MBL, through the establishment of new, start-up companies, technology licensing, or forming working partnerships and collaborations with outside companies, government agencies or educational institutions.

Between 1984 and 1997, traveled much of the world successfully pioneering the use of multibeam ocean-mapping technology for non-military applications and assisting many international government and commercial customers in developing and launching their first multibeam ocean mapping programs. Negotiated over 20 international contracts totaling more than $100M during this period.

Transitioned company's military sonar mapping products to the international commercial market and boosted annual sales from $4.6M to $22M during this period.

As Presidential Communications Specialist, provided secure HF/SSB and UHF Teletype and Voice Communications support for Air Force One and other VIP aircraft during all special air mission (SAM) flights at home and abroad. Was directly assigned to the 2045th Communications Group, a detachment of the 89th Military Air Wing at Andrews AFB. Supported President Richard Nixon, President Gerald Ford and Secretary of State, Henry Kissenger as well as other US and foreign political dignitaries during this period.
