Head Of Connectivity Services
CurrentManagement of a multi-national team of service owners, programme managers, architects and technical experts, accountable for the successful delivery of network services including, but not limited to, WAN, W(LAN), Remote Access, Azure (Cloud) Networking and Base Network Services. The legacy network will be maintained whilst some applications still exist onsite, but as the majority of applications are now running from SaaS and Cloud, the focus has changed to Edge and modern services such as ZScaler, Azure, Zero Trust and Software Defined Networking, in conjunction with modern security mechanisms (see my previous experience).Management of a large change portfolio to implement improvements and transformation within a three year roadmap, including the transition to SD-WAN and Local Internet Breakouts. Now in early 2024, with the majority of Uniper locations transformed with SD-WAN and Internet, we have deployed Palo Alto Prisma Access to create a new SASE environment and will be building policies over the next years to full move Uniper’s IT to Zero Trust. Previous programmes of work include: - Full network separation from the E.ON, with minimal incidents during the cut over time and positive feedback from stakeholders - Legacy network transformation specifically targeting user experience and reduction of incidents. This was a two year programme beginning and ending with user experience surveys and covered the creation of local internet breakouts at our major sites (based on user populations), improved WLAN, a temporary increase of MPLS connections in the legacy data centre to support cloud migrations, adoption of more suppliers to create better products- COVID / New Normal, initially to resize the legacy RAS and implement better traffic shaping, and form a rapid support group to protect our customers and applications, and then to support application and service migration to the cloud using a new distributed network model.
