The portfolio covers a wide range of national, regional and organisational activity. Steve also completed his PGcert qualifications from Ashridge in Executive Coaching and Team Coaching.Steve became Associate Director of Leadership and Change in April 2016. He led the OD service and was responsible for leadership and service development. Steve believes in developing internal talent and he is also well established in several networks that create new opportunities for people and services.Steve was Director of Programmes (Education) at UCLH from 2008 where he developed and delivered training programmes, inc; Leadership, Team Development, Human Factors and Patient Safety. In 2010 he also became Chief Instructor for the NHS Staff College where he led on this leadership initiative with the NHS, Military and independent specialists. Steve was involved on a part time basis with the education services at UCLH while still a Senior Nurse. He led the project to design and build The UCH Education Centre and ‘The Learning Hospital Simulation Centre’. Then moving on to develop the non technical training curriculum. The programmes included organisational wide techniques to better learn and implement lessons, improved teamwork and communication in theatres, leadership on ward rounds, working with teams in difficulty and handling challenging change. In just three years these programmes impacted on the hospitals culture and won awards for their innovative approach.Upon qualification as a children's nurse Steve specialised in the care of children and young people with cancer. He dedicated his clinical career to this group becoming a CNS, Ward Manager and the Senior Nurse for the service. He moved to development and now has a strong record of leading change and of developing people and organisations. He is comfortable working with clinical and non clinical leaders and staff.
