Since graduating (University of Wales, Cardiff (1988): First Class Honours Degree in Applied Biology) I have built up over 30 years’ professional experience covering environmental research, management, stakeholder engagement, and consultancy (involving both freshwater fisheries, and marine/coastal conservation and management), and have worked across a diverse range of employment backgrounds (government agencies, private-sector companies, third sector groups, and academia).After working for WRc plc (Fisheries Ecologist), and for EA Wales (Regional Fisheries Officer, and Fisheries Strategy and Policy Advisor) I moved to Calgary, Canada, to work for Golder Associates (Senior Fisheries Biologist).After returning to the UK, I diversified my expertise by moving into the marine sector. I have since held posts with both the Net Gain MCZ Project (Stakeholder Manager), and the former Institute for Estuarine and Coastal Studies, University of Hull (Marine Policy Specialist).In 2019 I founded my own research consultancy Wolds Environmental Consulting Ltd, which I now run as both Director and Senior Consultant. In addition I have a part-time role with IECS Ltd as a Senior Research Associate.Working as a sole contractor, or in close collaboration with other local environmental consultants, my work has included projects undertaken on behalf of AFBI, APEM Ltd, EC/JRC, Environment Agency, the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency, JNCC, MMO, Natural England, Ørsted, and the Yorkshire Marine Nature Partnership. In 2019 I founded my own research consultancy. Wolds Environmental Consulting Ltd, which I run as both Director and Senior Consultant. In addition I have a part-time role in IECS Ltd as a Senior Research Associate.Through Wolds Environmental Consulting my focus is on delivering high quality applied environmental research and support across coastal and marine waters.
