As the lead for the district's K-12 vision, I plan, facilitate, manage, develop, market, and execute strategies that enhance student learning and prepare them for future opportunities. In overseeing the district science budget, I assess and advocate for funding that aligns with departmental needs, educational advancements, and federal contributions. My role includes designing and delivering professional development sessions that introduce science educators to innovative, evidence-based practices, while also ensuring equitable use of technology, particularly in our 21st Century Apple Learning Labs. As a member of the district’s Innovation and Partnership Advisory Board, I actively promote a dynamic learning environment, exemplified by partnerships with Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals and PRA Health Sciences, where students, faculty, and pharma professionals collaborate to improve clinical trial experiences for both healthcare consumers and professionals. Additionally, I direct CentennialX, a summer entrepreneurial program that empowers students to work on real-world business challenges and present at prestigious forums like Stanford Medicine X. My partnerships with biotech venture capitalists and private equity investors have helped close the opportunity gap by funding cutting-edge science lab updates across the district. Collaborating with administration, I tackle departmental and school-wide issues, creating a vibrant schedule that meets the needs of over 1,800 students. Leveraging data and digital tools across platforms like Google Apps, Apple, and Microsoft, I work to align curricula with state standards and boost district-wide test scores, ensuring our district’s approach is both effective and forward-thinking.
