Managed large, complex, technical efforts for US Government sponsor. Conducted research in electronic warfare, radio frequency signatures and emissions, and systems engineering for technology insertion. Worked with sustainment centers to provide options for Diminishing Manufacturing Sources/Materiel Solutions (DMS/MS) by providing one-of-a-kind engineered solutions. As the squadron commander for a combat B-1 squadron, responsible for thirteen B-1 Bombers valued at $3.5 billion. Led 75 airmen to execute nation's war plans around the world. Mission ready evaluator/instructor who set example for Airmanship. Ensured squadron was trained to accomplish deployment and combat taskings. Ultimately responsible for ensuring Airmen in the squadron met primary duty performance, discipline, fitness, and conduct standards expected of them.▪ Orchestrated CONUS to CONUS B-1 strike against Libya, first-time for B-1s, struck all assigned targets from CONUS within hours of being tasked despite winter storm. Launched 2 B-1s to accomplish national tasking within hours of being tasked.▪ Led 6-month combat deployment to Qatar, deployed 7 aircraft and 77 Airmen, multiple 1st’s to include first integration on Digital Communication Interface datalink with the JREAP A Combined Air Operations Center datalink software. Combat debut that brought the B-1 on the link.

Director of Operations, 28th Operations Support Squadron, Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. Second-in-command of 194-person squadron responsible for Radar Approach Control and Control Tower air traffic control, weather observation and forecasting, managing and maintaining a multi-million dollar weapon system trainer (B-1 simulator), providing mission planning for intercontinental global power missions, intelligence support to decision makers, and crew communications support. Planned and executed $400 million in resources. Key Achievements:▪ Led $14.5 million in upgrades: new digital approach radar, expanded airspace to include non-contiguous airfield and approach corridors—1st ever in DOD▪ Led training complex range expansion to quadruple existing MOA to 35K sq miles

The mission of the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies (SAASS) is to produce strategists through advanced education in the art and science of air, space, and cyberspace power to defend the United States and protect its interests. All faculty are terminally credentialed in their respective academic specialties. Student reading load is 150-300 pages a day and students must defend a 100+ page thesis that contributes to the understanding of air and space power in order to graduate. SAASS is the most selective of all Air Force schools. Approximately five percent of those eligible to volunteer for SAASS are elected to attend. The SAASS curriculum is designed to accomplish two major objectives. The first is to enhance students' ability to think critically about airpower and warfare through an extensive examination of both theory and historical experience. This examination leads to a reasoned synthesis that informs the question of how modern airpower can be best applied across the entire spectrum of conflict. The second objective is to cultivate students' ability to argue effectively and responsibly about airpower. This objective is accomplished by having students introduce and defend propositions in graduate colloquia, produce interpretive arguments in prose that meet publication standards, and reduce complex formal arguments into comprehensible briefings. Although graduate colloquia dominate the curriculum, SAASS uses other instructional methodologies as well. These include a capstone wargaming exercise, practical application exercises, case studies, and guest speakers.

ELDP provides participants with an extensive exposure to the roles and missions of DoD. In addition, ELDP provides participants with an increased understanding and appreciation of today's warfighters. Warfighters speak of being at the “tip of the spear” and ELDP provides experiences that will give participants a greater understanding of what it is like being at the tip of the spear.This education program was established in 1985 with the approval of the Secretary of Defense and has continued over the years to educate future leaders about the issues facing DoD. In addition to seminars in Washington, D.C. where experts in defense, foreign affairs and politics address ELDP classes, participants have intensive "hands-on" field experience at military installations around the country as well as overseas.
