I’m a clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, information technology architect, mathematical modeling/analytics software developer, writer, researcher, and Founder/CEO of National Health Data Systems, Inc. (NHDS). For the past 40 years, I’ve been working with an international team to develop digital health assessment tools that provide mental/behavioral health practitioners and their clients (patients) with information that builds knowledge to increase clients’ well-being and quality of life.In the early 1980s, I began developing a digital assessment tool and used it in my psychotherapy practice to collect and analyze client-generated data. I discussed the results with my clients in a collaborative process that supported treatment planning and care delivery decisions. I successfully used that information to assess treatment progress and learn from the outcomes, all decades before other therapists used computers within the therapeutic process.Then, in 1994, I founded NHDS with a vision to develop innovative health information technologies that enable a measurement-based, client-centric, whole-person, high-value approach to care. I formed a collaborative network of healthcare practitioners, research scientists, and computer technicians who aimed to build a unique digital system that would realize that vision.I knew it would take considerable time and effort to design and build the required technologies needed to support my vision. So, for the next 25 years, we focused on researching and developing software tools and systems able to securely capture, analyze, and report extensive details about a person’s experiences, mindsets, health, and relationships. This biopsychosocial information builds actionable insights about the cognitive, emotional, behavioral, biomedical, and environmental factors that influence people’s physical and mental health.We are now focused on implementing the AI-enabled RevealMyWay™ software tools that provide insights and guidance for increasing psychological well-being through self-knowledge and mindset agility. In addition, we are working with a growing alliance of nonprofits and experts in restorative justice to develop next-generation recidivism risk assessment and reduction tools.I have also created a theory of the human mind and experiences and write about mindsets, the mind-body connection, human nature, consciousness, and cosmology.
