Design, develop and execute mechanical system projects for a variety of commercial and residential clients. As Director, responsible for building business and managing projects from inception to delivery. Recent projects include:- Brewing and mechanical systems design, selection, procurement and installation/maintenance for Whisky Jack Brewery in North Vancouver, BC- Plan, design, purchase, execute and control/monitor mechanical systems for a residential high-rise in downtown Vancouver - Retrofit and maintain hydronic system for a commercial heritage space on Vancouver’s historic Main St.Further experience includes:- Consulting in partnership with Climate Smart BC to help clients develop and execute energy management plans, with a focus on reducing both lifecycle costs and long-term carbon footprint. - Auditing and monitoring customer systems through a system of KPIs to measure effectiveness and optimization of a mechanical system. Based on this data, adjust customer systems to ensure they are running at maximum efficiency given their application, physical environment and lifecycle cost.- Scoped, budgeted and proposed solutions for end-clients on various mechanical system projects. Coordinated with various trades and vendors to obtain sub-trade proposals and contract documents for outsourced project services and components.- Managed a team of technicians to ensure each technician or apprentice was working on an appropriate project given their skills and abilities. Responsible for campus-wide building systems maintenance, repair/upgrades, project management, and commissioning on a UBC building portfolio comprising over 400 buildings. Working under the Building Operations group, took a holistic view of campus-wide building systems incorporating best practices in sustainability and systems optimization, becoming a recognized talent in problem-solving.Responsibilities: - Synthesized complex data to correctly diagnose and repair mechanical systems in a variety of specialist areas. Equipment included chillers, geothermal, heat pumps, air conditioning, environmental chambers and hydronic heating systems.- Using interpersonal and management skills, worked with all divisions to support the transition of new buildings from subcontractors to part of UBC’s asset portfolio.- Through an understanding of the overall mechanical systems and project management, worked with controls and BMS to effectively verify and optimize building automations controls, seasonal strategies, PID loops and program codes. - Shop Steward for IUOE Local 882. Developed a deep understanding of union activities, grievance processes and conflict resolution. Worked in commercial transport refrigeration container division, with a specialization in advanced energy management systems. Worked under high pressure tight timelines to deliver climate control solutions on high value container products from around the world. Experience included:- Factory trained and certified in Thermo King, Carrier, York, Starcool, Ingersoll Rand, Mitsubishi and Dakin components and refrigeration systems. - Completed Red Seal Certification for Refrigeration and associated tickets in Gas B, Electrical Power Generation, Transportation, Diesel Engine and Electrical Endorsements.
