Application of the NEC in combination with national and international lightning standards. Translation English-Spanish / Spanish English for power systems. Collaboration with Lyncole Grounding Solutions and EasyPower for translation and development of bilingual training.

Eclectic Consulting (Consultoría Ecléctica in Spanish) is a legally established, tax paying enterprise in Cochabamba Bolivia. We have two basic business activities: 1) In-bound services to assist companies in the USA (and Europe / Asia) establish their business and products & services in Latin America. Our services include translation to/from Spanish, market assessment, assistance in web localization, sales representation. A typical customer is one that has an excellent product portfolio and is looking to enter the Latin American market and/or expand their presence. 2) Local electrical engineering. We specialize in high performance electrical grounding, lightning protection, design of electrical systems with an emphasis on design based on the NEC. Our effort includes "power quality" issues as they are encountered in the Bolivian environment.

Assisting on a temporary / seasonal basis in the processing of disaster claims.

Assisted in the process of recovery following Harvey, Irma and Maria in 2017; hurricanes Florence & Michael and California wildfires of 2018. Started at GS-9 in September 2017 and upgraded to GS-11 at one year anniversary in September 2018. I served in the Loss Verification department of the Ft. Worth office of the Office of Disaster Assistance. My duties were divided into four general areas:A) Conduct field examinations by telephone and perform a variety of tasks directed at verifying cause, determining extent, and estimating the repair/replacement cost of damage to personal, real, and business property that resulted from a disaster.B) Assist in the overall loan processing effort. This included reviews of progress of rebuilding effort through dialogue with borrowers of disaster related loans and scrutiny of receipts presented to ensure that they conformed with SBA receipting guidelines. The result of a progress inspection was either to recommend (or not) a further disbursement of loan funds when the borrower met SBA criteria. C) Verification of basic data including addresses, property value according to public records, review of possible increases to disaster loans when borrowers submitted additional corroborating estimates of repair and conformance with SBA receipting. D) Determination of requirement for FEMA mandated flood insurance. This required use of SBA / FEMA tools for flood mapping.A majority of my work was with Spanish speaking customers in the continental USA as well as Puerto Rico. Furloughed 12/21/18 due to lack of incoming work for SBA disaster assistance.

PWMin is a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to finding ways to help those stuck in profound poverty. Our philosophy is that escape from poverty entails the person taking action for her/himself (the "participatory" angle). Our initial effort is in a part of far-rural Bolivia where we are helping obtain books and school supplies. It is participatory in that we assist with school material and the student / family makes the effot to get to school, do homework, etc. The effort is a ministry in that we invoke religious & spiritual principles as part of the solution to the problem of poverty.
