My sole passion now, is to make a contribution to transitioning to net zero by 2050 by addressing the root causes of Climate Change, & mitigating the risks to the environment & society through adaptation initiatives.The world must act now to stop burning fossil fuels by accelerating the scale out of renewables, apply the 80/20 rule to reduce fossil fuel demand & improve the efficiency of energy use in making things, producing electricity, getting around (transportation), lighting, heating & cooling offices & homes. The world must significantly reduce meat & dairy consumption to reduce methane emissions, stop deforestation caused by farming & agriculture &; significantly reduce waste of any kind. This requires global cultural transformation through education, away from the mindset driven solely by GDP/profit growth, to being driven by ESG "sustainability & resiliency" purpose driven "values".The 2021 IPCC report provides indisputable scientific evidence that it is human activity that has caused world temperatures to increase 1.09 degrees pre-industrial temperatures, & extreme weather events of heatwaves, wild fires, droughts, floods & loss of life is happening now with greater frequency & intensity. This is a global crisis far greater than the pandemic, happening now & requires a global coordinated CRISIS response, G20 leadership & collaboration, & crucially ACTION at COP26 in Nov 2021.At COP26 the G20 must agree to radically cut emissions now, fund the financial support for developing countries, & standardise Carbon footprint measurement.All businesses must comply with new climate-related risk regulations. REPORT on ESG metrics integrated with financial accounts in Company Report & Accounts, based on the Task Force for Climate Financial Disclosure (TCFD) reporting framework; incorporate Climate-related RISKS into Enterprise Risk Management modelling systems to drive enterprise resilience ie what-if climate-related risk supply chain scenario analyses; & realise new green economic RETURNS by investing in sustainable initiatives. Financial markets working with major Accountancy firms need to drive, align & “re-value” their asset portfolios based on companies performance on “transition” & “physical” climate-related risk mitigation, underpinned by ESG “value” metrics for sustainability & resiliency, as reported under TCFD.My passion & resolve to mitigate the climate crisis trumps my life’s career and is why I can help Climate Change Consultancy firms, Platform and Smart Energy providers accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy future.
