I'm a solutions-focused process engineer. I have extensive experience in techical service and process optimization. I use my knowledge of process operations, along with data gathered of the process operating conditions, to optimize product yield, and minimize operation costs, to maximize profitability. This would be done while maintaining unit uptime and ensuring a safe and reliable operation.

Senior Staff EngineerToledo Refining Company Llc Sep 1997 - Jul 2020Oregon, OhioThe Toledo Refining Company acquired the Toledo Refinery from Sunoco Refining in March 2011.• I provided technical support to the two PBF Toledo refinery reformer units. I optimized the reformer units or addressed unit operational problems using process parameters and lab data. I presented options to Operations supervision, considering effects on other units and overall refinery goals.• I directed all facets of catalyst regenerations, including procedures and direction of operators. Over forty- five regenerations were performed, with all regenerations successfully restoring catalyst to full expected activity. • I provided oversight of reformer catalyst unloading, screening, and reloading. This included internal inspections of all reactors, as well as towers and vessels, to ensure they were ready to return to service. • I conducted formal and informal reformer training sessions for new engineers, coop students, and operations personnel.• I participated in Process Hazard Analysis revalidation meetings as the technical representative.• I provided operations with monthly summaries of unit performance and potential issues.• I provided support as requested for catalytic reformers company-wide at refineries located at Chalmette, LA; Paulsboro, NJ, and Delaware City, DE.• I assisted with the first catalyst regeneration at PBF Chalmette Refinery semi regen reformer after the unit had been shut down for 10 years. The regeneration went relatively smoothly and the catalyst was restored to full activity.• I assisted with the restart of the CCR reformer at PBF Delaware City refinery when the refinery was recommissioned after an extended shutdown. The unit startup was successful on the first try.• All activities were performed safely. -
Senior Process EngineerAshland Petroleum Company Sep 1989 - Sep 1997Catlettsburg, Kentucky, United States• I functioned as the system wide catalytic reformer specialist for all Ashland refineries.• I provided daily technical support to the Catlettsburg Refinery reformer units. I optimized the reformer / regenerator system for smooth operation while meeting refinery goals. I developed and utilized a spreadsheet to maximize the CCR reformer time in white burn when operational targets limited coke make. • We successfully executed a CCR catalyst change “on the fly”.• I directed the performance of catalyst regenerations for semi regen reformers, including guidance to operations personnel during the actual process. Over a dozen regenerations were performed, with all regenerations successfully restoring catalyst to full expected activity. • I oversaw reformer catalyst unloading, screening, and reloading, in both downflow and radial flow reactors. I performed internal inspections during turnarounds of all towers and vessels to ensure they were ready to return to service, and reactors, for both semi regeneration and CCR reformers, to ensure the internals were properly installed.• I managed the system wide CCR reforming units’ catalyst precious metals accounts.• I provided technical service for the Ashland Catlettsburg Refinery Penex unit and other light naphtha and distillates hydrotreating units when personnel issues required it.• I was a member of a group that provided planning, purchasing direction, and loading of catalysts in any reactor at any refinery that required a change. I handled many changes, sometimes including startups, as a member of this group. This included large scale turnaround support at all refineries.• All activities were performed safely.
