Profile bio

About Steve Dart

Over the last 40 years in the defense industry I have learnt that whether it is drinking warm beer sat on packing crates in the Atacama desert after a successful rocket firing or signing a $156m IDIQ contract standing up at the reception desk in an East Texas office, it is the pleasure of knowing that everyone on your team played a critical role for the win that is the real reward. In these 40 years, I have moved on from using a hotel bathroom as a makeshift darkroom to develop smear camera film after a long day on the range to designing pyrotechnic production buildings on a green field site and creating a team to run them. I have helped dig in the spades for a GHN-45 155mm howitzer in Spain, commissioned a composite rocket motor facility in Chile, designed and built a melt-pour facility in Belgium and a demilitarization facility in East Texas. In recent years I have assumed complete P/L responsibility for the facilities I have managed, and this has taught me that although controlling costs is essential to drive margin performance, without a keen focus on business development there is no growth. Also, without putting the customer at the center of everything you do there is no development of business.I am now spearheading Research and Development at Day & Zimmerman for the Munitions and Government group, please reach out to me if you have any ideas or products you want to move from the drawing board or lab into production.

Listed skills include Manufacturing, Dod, Engineering, Project Planning, and 29 others.
