Managed the $2 million enterprise directory project, acting as sponsor and chief technology architect. The achieved goal was to implement an LDAP enterprise directory and associated identity and security services including extranet access for 2 million users. Duties included managing 18-person team. Project included implementation of Active Directory and Oblix (now Oracle) access management. Responsible for developing federated security using SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language). Steering group member, CUNA Mutual Security Improvement Project. Managed the staff responsible for the ongoing operation and enhancement of these systems.Management responsibility for security help desk, the identity lifecycle, data and privacy stewardship program.Key Accomplishments:• Implemented Oblix NetPoint web access management system in support of end-consumer and employee applications. • Successfully implemented one of the first large Microsoft Active Directory installations for the purpose of extranet access (over 300,000 users).• Successfully designed and implemented an enterprise directory design which accommodates employee, business partner and end-consumer information.

Recruited to help develop an architecture-based process for managing the adoption, evolution and retirement of technologies for $3 billion (revenue) national financial services firm with over 5,000 employees. Chaired the Architecture Steering group, the senior technology decision-making body at CUNA Mutual. Involved with every major technology decision made at this organization during this time period.Key Accomplishments:• Instrumental in driving to conclusion a number of decisions that enabled the organization to build an infrastructure that would support its business initiatives, including extensive e-business plans. • Participated as IT representative on Chief Marketing Officer’s efforts to formulate an e-business strategy for the organization.• The driving force behind the effort to identify and then address the infrastructure gaps that put the firm’s e-business plans at risk. The result was an allocation of over $11 million to infrastructure projects.• Projects included: Directory Services, Enhanced Application Server Environment, Enhanced Messaging Environment, High Availability/Reliability Deployment Environment and Virtual Private Network. • Collaborated with numerous project teams and committees, advising on the appropriate use of technology.• Presented on the Architecture Process and Directory Services to executive management and to audiences of hundreds of employees.
