Solasia Pharma is a specialty oncology pharmaceutical company established by MPM Capital and ITOCHU Corporation with operations in Japan and China. Other investors include Kyowa Hakko Kirin and Mitsubishi UFJ Capital. As CEO, I was responsible for overseeing all operating activities of the company. Negotiated and licensed Asian rights to two oncology assets for Asia: Sancuso (granisetron patch for chemotherapy nausea and vomiting) and darinaparsin (organic arsenical for lymphoma). Oversaw the filing of the clinical trial application in China for Sancuso, and initiation of a Japan Phase 1 study for darinaparsin in 4Q 2011.

Established the Japan office of the Purdue/Mundipharma Group, with offices in both Tokyo and Osaka. The team included clinical development, regulatory affairs, marketing and finance/administration. Established the infrastructure to carry out clinical development of Mundipharma’s transdermal product for chronic pain (BUTRANS, buprenorphine patch for chronic pain). The clinical team carried out all development activities, including four Phase III studies. Led negotiations with Hisamitsu Pharmaceuticals culminating in a 2007 strategic collaboration in Japan for BUTRANS.

Ezaki Glico is a major Japanese manufacturer of confectionery products (e.g. Pocky sticks). As the only foreigner hired at the firm, I assisted the international department and management on projects requiring Japanese/English translation.
