Executive Leadership | Capital Projects Development & Delivery | Leadership Coaching | ex-BHP / ex-Rio TintoI retired from BHP in early 2022 and am now accepting inquiries for capital projects consulting and individual executive & leadership coaching. I am a registered Professional Engineer with nearly 40 years of diverse international experience in the development and delivery of major capital projects and programs. My experience includes broad exposure to a global portfolio footprint and natural resource commodity segments – gold, silver, iron ore, nickel, copper, coal, uranium, diamonds, lithium, rare earths, cobalt, aluminium, borates, frac sand, and petroleum. I have held senior leadership roles for the Owner, Construction Management, General Contractor, Subcontractor, and EPCMs, providing critical experience in all phases of capital project delivery and investment governance.At BHP, I led the BHP Project Centre of Excellence and the BHP Project Management Leadership Team and was a member of the BHP Group Investment Review Committee. As Project Centre of Excellence Officer and Chair of the Projects Leadership Team, we drove numerous improvements to collectively create effective outcomes in capital-efficient investment delivery. During my tenure with BHP, I was also member of the Technical Office Leadership Team and the Minerals Americas Leadership Team. I also led BHP's Technical Division activities related to the Petroleum division demerger to Woodside Energy.Before joining BHP in 2017, I spent seven years at Rio Tinto in a succession of senior executive roles in the capital projects delivery organization. I joined Rio in 2010 as Group Advisor, Capital Projects and was elevated to the role of Managing Director-Americas Projects in 2011. Subsequent roles at Rio Tinto then followed as a result of my ability to lead large owner capital projects organizations through change and successful portfolio delivery: Managing Director-Australasia Projects (2013), Managing Director-Copper & Aluminium Projects (2014), Managing Director-Iron Ore & Copper Projects (2015), and Managing Director-Copper & Diamonds Projects (2016).During my early career, I was a co-owner of a specialty construction management firm servicing clients in the mining and industrial markets, acting as Owner’s Representative and Project Director on major gold/silver, power, infrastructure, and environmental remediation projects. I graduated from Penn State with a B. Architectural Engineering (Mechanical) and earned MBA and MS-Finance degrees from the University of Colorado.
