~ KEY ACHIEVEMENTS (personnel-specific) ~★ Proudly led a talented team of more than 40 people; this included teaching, as well as non-teaching staff who represented various professions in their own right.★ Strategically recruited for staff vacancies, shoulder-tapping potential candidates and leveraging professional contacts to improve gender balance across teaching staff to almost 50% (the national average for male teachers in the primary school sector is c 14%).★ Appointed the school’s first female Deputy Principal in more than 90 years.★ Attracted two former Principals to work as senior teachers at the school; they contributed significantly to the depth and breadth of experience at the school.★ Appointed the school’s first Beginning Teacher and implemented a robust mentor program to support him; he became a much-valued member of the team.★ Led three Board-directed staff restructures in as many years. Did utmost to conduct process with transparency, fairness and dignity. Where possible, used professional contacts to assist affected staff in securing roles at other local schools.★ Established a Professional Development register, with an annual investment allocated to each individual.★ Positively influenced the community perception of the team, through the formal celebration of long service milestones, as well as establishing a staff dress code following an extensive consultation period.★ Saw staff retirement as opportunity to review and ultimately contemporise, the boarding environment. Appointed vibrant young Chaplin and his wife as live-in caregivers for the boarders. Oversaw a raft of physical enhancements to the boarding house at the same time.★ Transformed a fairly stigmatised aspect of boarding school life, through the appointment of an acclaimed chef, who revolutionised the school's catering service.
