It feels like yesterday when I interviewed for GOV2COM as ODU Outreach Coordinator. By the time a new Director came on board we had only six months of project funding. Seven years later, it was time to transition into my final retirement. My journey at ODU-IIE, in its many forms, was a capstone of my professional career. A thirty-two-year professional career post-military retirement that has included positions as a Community College Director of Continuing Education, Cox Business/Communications Management, and Social Media Consultant. Finishing my professional career with the ODU-IIE team is an honor and privilege. I will close with the guiding motto that my Director and I created seven years ago—a motto that I will always keep to heart in my retirement: "Sicut Si Pati Possent."

In addition to the duties performed as an Outreach Program Coordinator, assists in the development and implementation of long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the ODU-IIE programs, including program development, marketing of service offerings, client/resource partner recruitment, IT technical support, and management of cross-functional teams composed of teams with more than one reporting line. ODU-IIE provides external and internal startup and existing business assistance to the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as liaison between the University and industry. Current projects, include assisting the ODU Business Development Center at ODU to reach out to organizations throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia to augment their efforts in helping small businesses and startups mitigate the impact of COVID-19, as well as providing individual client mentoring and coaching. This task includes managing Zoom meetings, social media channels, Constant Contact mailing lists, and webpages for TempO, OpenSeas Technology Innovation Hub, and BDC. Lead for the Shop Elkton VA project. The project goal is to help a small rural Virginia town impacted by COVID become a tourist destination for shopping and dining, Efforts include providing mentoring, coaching, as well as direct and internet marketing/promotion. The last project performed was working with a BDC team composed of staff and vendors to develop Cybersecurity awareness training for small businesses and startups.

Following retirement from Cox Communications in March 2011, have been helping organizations and businesses implement Social Media technologies. Managed sales launch of Orpak USA’s new DP Fleet Maintenance System, an innovative Wi-Fi entrant into the vehicle fleet telematics market. For more than 15 years, Orpak Ltd has marketed worldwide end-to-end solutions for the automation of service stations and vehicle fleet management. In over 40 countries, Orpak has exceeded customers’ needs for automation, payment, convenience store management, commercial, retail sales, and fuel delivery systems. Orpak’s DP Fleet Maintenance System represents a new and innovative vehicle fleet technology. March 2015, Orpak USA decided to suspend this market line of products.
