I started my career in electronics with processor design and machine code programming, moving into IT around 1990 in the days when a PC cost a fortune and having a Unix OS was fashionable.Achievements include introducing web technologies against all the odds to a company in the days before Google had been heard of when the way to search was using "Gopher", migrating a large firm from GroupWise email onto Exchange email of around 10K seats, introducing the first Blackberry phones into an organisation when nobody else had wireless email access, introducing VMware for server virtualisation, SSO using ADFS setup along with FIM for linking HR and AD systems, and Microsoft cloud service (Azure and O365) projects.Passionate about appropriate use of technology, not driven by it but adapting to business needs.
