Steve is a former national correspondent for iHeartMEDIA and investigative reporter at KFI-AM 640 in Los Angeles. Steve has won 11 Edward R. Murrow Awards, including 3 national. He is the recipient of more than 80 Golden Mike Awards, and numerous other awards including the Associated Press, the Communicator Awards, the International Association of Fire Fighters, the Webbies, and the Los Angeles Press Club.He is California's first working journalist to become a POST-Certified Instructor (Level II) and the first journalist in the United States to receive international instructor certification from IADLEST and national certification from ILEETA.Steve also presents on media relations and crisis communications to law enforcement, fire, military and other first responders. Since 2007, he's been an adjunct instructor at the LAPD, and since 2015, an adjunct instructor at the University of Southern California's School of Public Policy/Safe Communities Institute. In 2020, he became an adjunct instructor with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and in October of 2022 became a staff instructor at the newly created National Public Safety Innovation Academy in Central Florida.In 2022, the California Commission for Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) honored Steve with its Excellence in Training Award for his work with law enforcement. His company, PressCon Media (PCM), delivers the same style and technique used in its law enforcement curricula to teach PR, Marketing Firms, and Non-profits how to navigate the media. Steve is in high demand and travels the country to present seminars on media relations and crisis communications.
