It combined one off vouchers (similar to Grabone.co.nz / Groupon.com) with weekly specials into a hot looking (and easy to use) promotions platform. Deals were initially targeted at University students and included movie tickets, weekly alcohol & bar specials and hair & beauty vouchers. It contained a unique social element with clubs instead of categories where each club gave away related deals (such as a year supply of Tui for the drinking club).Live for about 9 months, and even after winning a business plan competition, wowza never quite made it massive due to a few reasons including: the wrong revenue model, lack of investment and timing with market education. Had it been a Silicon Valley start-up, things might of been different. Though the voucher market is very flooded today, there is still a lot of room for innovation in the online-offline retail space. This start-up taught me many lessons plus gave me foundation experience in all area's of start-up business development including: market validation, web application & brand development, systems engineering, marketing, sales, customer relationships, social media, accounting, website legals, employment, business incubation, business planning, general business administration, shareholder structure & dealings, how to take in advice. This was also the start of my growing business networks. Show less
