Steve, a proud Vietnam veteran (1968 and 1969) and recipient of two Bronze Stars, is also a long-time resident of Minneapolis, which is why he strongly supports both housing for veterans and the needs of his own hometown.Steve is currently involved with MACV, the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans; Housing First Minnesota, which provides housing for homeless vets; the MN 100 Club, which provides financial assistance to the families of first responders who are injured or killed in the line of duty; the Mount Calvary Quilter’s Group that donates hand-made quilts to homeless vets and other charities; NAMI, the National Association of Mental Illness; the Sanneh Foundation, which serves the youth development needs of the increasingly diverse Twin Cities area, and Ziggy’s Art Bus, which brings the joy of art to children with life-threatening conditions.Given Steve Havig’s integrity and generosity, combined with his ceaseless dedication and hard work, it’s no wonder he received the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics in 2023, the East Isles Neighborhood Association Volunteer Award in 2023, the Minneapolis Area Realtors Good Neighbor Award in 2019, the Twin Cities Business Small Business Award in 2015 and the Minneapolis Area Realtors Community Involvement Award in 2011.
