About Steve Hough

My career to date has been primarily focussed on Procurement and Contract Management although the overall scope of my experience gives a complete end-to-end perspective of the business. What is important to highlight for this role is the variety of different roles which allows me to bring fresh insight and perspective and also how adaptable I am to any given situation which means I can get up to speed quickly.Thorn-EMI and Nokia developed my procurement skills around Supplier Relationship Management / Negotiation / Sourcing and Cost Reduction within blue chip environments while I undertook professional development in the form of MCIPS and academic qualifications with an MBA. The MBA in particular gave me a much greater appreciation of the whole business and an insight into the Greening of Procurement which instigated a career change into the Environmental Sector.At Valpak I started to focus more on Contract Management, initially pre-contract leading bid and tender teams for consultancy research projects and then post contract managing operational implementation ensuring contractual compliance with regulations / SLA & Client requirements, managing contract changes & disputes as well as developing relationships with all key stakeholders – subcontract / partners & client. After Valpak, I took the opportunity of a career break to involve myself in local community and voluntary activities but kept up professional development by getting Prince2 accredited. I joined Greenfield Energy on a part-time basis to establish robust processes around procurement and contract management as the product was rolled out.
