CompTIA uses Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for help in developing and maintaining certification exams. Input from IT professionals working in the field is crucial to their ability to develop relevant and up-to-date exam content. Assistance from SMEs is essential in developing quality content for the appropriate level of expertise. SMEs work with peers and CompTIA staff to create or review exam items associated with the technologies, skills, and best practices used by IT professionals.I am also a member of the CompTIA SME Technical Advisory Committee, which helps better facilitate the recruitment of qualified IT professionals worldwide, and provide CompTIA with the support and expertise needed during the development of both high stakes and low stakes exam development phases.I was also invited to join the CompTIA Certification Governance Committee. This is a select group of individuals who have displayed strong expertise in specific technology areas, demonstrated their ability to lead and work well in workshop type settings and shown impartiality through their actions. The purpose of this committee is to ensure CompTIA certifications remain fair, accurate, and current by providing support and expertise in a timely fashion during the development of CompTIA exams.

My role at Berkeley College was to provide oversight and recommendations on information security best practices and topics across various lines of business, primarily from the Information Systems department. I conducted and reviewed compliance of enterprise wide training for information security topics, such phishing awareness. Day to day I also assisted in reviewing log files for all security systems, including firewalls, anti-virus, anti-malware, and anti-exploit software.I helped to create, maintain, or update internal and external governance documents relating to Information Security policies, procedures, and guidelines. I was a member of Incident Response teams and provided training and oversight to other team members. As needed I conducted audits of security postures and reviewed third party audits to recommend corrective actions. I assisted in performing contract and vendor review for alignment of security objectives with Berkeley’s business objectives and compliance with policies.And finally I assisted in providing monthly security metrics to report up to Board level management, along with providing mentoring to junior staff members on Information Security best practices and career paths. I also met with students as a guest ITM program speaker.

As the AVP of IT Security for BCB Community Bank I was primarily responsible or involved in the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of information security solutions. This includes firewalls, routers, and switches from multiple vendors as well as anti-virus/malware/exploit, patch management, SIEM, web filtering, and others. The role included daily log reviews to ensure the security of the Bank's network and information, along with compiling and presenting summaries and reports to executive staff.I was also involved in the disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response programs of the Bank. I assisted when possible in authoring, editing, or reviewing many governance documents, as well as with vendor management and risk assessments. I was involved in various audits of the Bank's information security posture, both external and internal. I also acted as an escalation point for other members of the IT department for security, network, and other ongoing IT-related issues. In cases of the absence of the CTO I was also the senior management resource for the IT department.

The Devils Army General's were the first ever "by the fans, for the fans" social media initiative in professional sports. I got to work alongside the New Jersey Devils Hockey Club front office to help support my favorite team like no other fan has before. We provided a means for grass roots marketing assistance and frequently acted as a sounding board for ideas that the organization was considering. We also were well versed in social media, maintaining our own social media platforms.

I was a contractor at ImClone through ITS in the Bridgewater NJ facility. I was one of two people responsible for tech support at this site, which includes all desktop and laptop support along with their peripherals. This includes all new configurations, software installs, security and anti-virus, printers, etc. for a main corporate facility serving ~500 users including the majority of the executive board.
