During my 5 years as Design Engineer at Whale my role included –Designing liquid waste tankers and jetting equipment. I became the departments SolidWork’s (3D modelling) specialist and involved training colleagues as required. I managed their DriveWork’s (design atomisation) program, developing application to aid & streamline their design process. I was originally employed as a Fabricator Welder and a year later promoted to Assistant Team Leader in Whale’s Tank Building Department. As well helping with the day to day running of the department I managed a welder training program for the company. Formal weld procedures, in carbon and stainless steel, as well as external welder skill’s testing, were required in order to satisfy the new PED legislation.

Lakeland specializes in the manufacture of road tankers for the energy distribution industry that include LPG & Petroleum tankers. Originally employed as a production Fabricator / Mig welder, I was promoted to Team Leader of Tank Build department in March 1997 and then to Assistant Works Manager in November 1998.

Using varied joint preps and weld procedures such as Submerged Arc, MMA and Mig welding, all seams were to the highest quality and subject to NDT testing.
