Zettics provides Big Data analytics and network monitoring for wireless providers (formerly Velocent Systems)At Zettics/Velocent, I was trusted to guide diverse multinational teams into sync and to bring effective communication to complex projects. After joining the team, I rapidly gained proficiency across our product lines, contributing technically to design, test, and troubleshooting efforts on our deep packet inspection and wireless protocol analysis engines, as well as resilient clustered SSAS OLAP and OLTP systems for network reporting, alarming, and analytics. I managed internal development projects, including the successful cross-product development of a novel Voice-over-LTE monitoring solution, which met a demanding timeline while improving internal design and development workflows and also improving internal team cooperation. I also managed critical support efforts for a key customer with extremely demanding expectations. I integrated R&D, field support, product management, and executive needs to develop response plans, strategies, and communications to solve issues while also improving customer perception. As part of this, I also helped re-engineer our internal processes, driving focused changes in release and test management, with demonstrated improvements in product quality and customer satisfaction.

Metrixx is a startup focused on financial decision support and collaboration software for professional financial traders.At Metrixx, I organized our technical team, prototyping Web-based (.NET) tools for traders delivered through an aligned social networking portal. This involved the ingest of multiple market feeds, development of analysis/pricing engines and a historical SQL Server database, real time financial calculations ( custom and QuantLib), custom graphing packages, as well as Jive portal design, administration, user experience and content creation. I coordinated technology evaluation, infrastructure decisions, research, and development under a very fluid, evolving product vision. Accordingly, I needed to ensure that both strategic objectives and technical challenges were understood across roles, so I introduced quality processes, a knowledge base repository, and agile project management structures to increase executive understanding of status and challenges, and to align the trading and programming sides of the team. I also took primary ownership of technical specifications and scopes of work, to ensure that technical implementations and the financial/mathematical requirements driving them were both clearly spelled out As a result, I became a go-to resource to fill expertise gaps by researching calculation methods and practical usage in quantitative finance, including bond and commodity futures and spreads (TEDs, crack/crush, etc.), yield curves and rate risk (DV01), volatility models, market profiling techniques, swaps, Dodd-Frank implications, etc. I also directed MBA/M.S. Finance Interns implementing new algorithms for volatility and historical pricing.As a technical contributor, I designed and tested analytical and portal user interfaces and content; created external content descriptions, technical copy for marketing and White Papers and implemented solutions using SQL Server, Excel RTD, C#, VBA, and statistical time series analysis in R.

Loreto is a Human Resources & Benefits data quality consulting practice, performing business rule-based auditing and cleansing of pension data using proprietary data mining software and extensive VB scripting; extract/transform/load of active and legacy HR data to Oracle-based systems; design & implementation of SQL Server and .NET based data warehousing and secure hosted services solutions; and data conversion to major benefits administration vendor specifications. At Loreto, I created a new project/program management role, giving Loreto better internal technical coordination through effective scope, resource, and change management. I drove initiatives to create repeatable processes and implement best practices, and better distribute organizational knowledge via Microsoft SharePoint Services. The result was a coherent structure to better manage Loreto’s growing practice, boost efficiency and polish our client-facing image.I also initiated a closer relationship with client teams, negotiating frequently shifting client priorities and logjams, and actively reaching into client and 3rd-party vendor organizations to partner and broker solutions. As a result, I was tasked by the CEO to manage and improve ongoing relations with firm’s largest Fortune 100 client. I established excellent rapport with client management, and boosted business development by identifying client needs, championing into multiple new or up-scoped projects representing significant new revenue. I took the lead on all proposals, pricing, and service-level negotiations, increasing revenues through creative win-win terms and strong pricing level support.As a technical contributor, I wrote ETL and conversion modules for 50-facility healthcare client data merge, audited data quality using multivariate statistical analysis, and created legacy HR data warehouses, working with the client on initial discovery and specifications, ETL, participant-level indexing, and user interface specifications.

While at Alcatel-Lucent, I demonstrated a knack for communication and team-building, and the flexibility to rapidly fit any necessary role - from supportive to Subject Matter Expert – across a wide variety of organizations, technologies, and contexts.I planned and executed a regional strategy to prepare Latin American operations for 3rd generation (UMTS/w-CDMA) wireless deployments, creating project management plans and forging partnerships with experienced global teams to gain support and mentoring opportunities. I then successfully coordinated two major customer trials in support of over $500M in potential revenue, negotiating technical and financial support at executive levels across the company.I coordinated high-profile deployments and technical support efforts in Latin America across wireless (CDMA, GSM), IP/ATM/optical networking, DSL, and converged networks (IMS), championing critical escalations, consulting on technical troubleshooting, and aligning local, and regional engineers with product & sales teams to drive successful delivery.I was selected for a “special projects” team targeting early 3G wireless market trials. I conducted original research for a leading particle physics collaboration, resulting in 90+ peer-reviewed publications, including the discovery of the top quark.As a doctoral thesis, I substantially improved a major experimental particle physics analysis and originated a successful measurement unique within the field. I evaluated analysis criteria, wrote modeling algorithms using Fortran, VMS, and UNIX, and developed new analysis quantities and techniques. I also developed and maintained the primary data set used by several groups for physics analysis, maintained standard reconstruction code on VMS and UNIX single and parallel-processing platforms, and actively pursued migration to new platforms and utilities.As part of my engagement in the hardware and construction of the detector, I managed part of a major detector upgrade: I evaluated design criteria and designed circuitry; developed circuit assembly specifications and advised the vendor during manufacturing; and managed staff in testing and calibration.As part of my publication and outreach work, I prepared and presented numerous papers and seminars within the collaboration, for National Science Foundation grant review, at universities, and at national and international physics conferences.
