I manage all aspects of our CEO's and senior executives' speaking engagements. I research topics, recommend speaking points, write speeches and presentations and coordinate the logistics of each event.I am also part of core team helping to implement "content journalism,” a proactive communications strategy using multiple platforms to position Denver Water as a trusted source and its people as thought leaders in the industry. Simply put, we don't wait for the media to tell our story. We go directly to our customers to tell our story ourselves. I serve as editor for both strategy and content, and I contribute content as well. Finally, I am responsible for fulfilling requests for tours of Denver Water facilities. I coordinate with various groups within Denver Water to make sure each tour fulfills stated strategic initiatives for stakeholder outreach, reputation management and safety protocol.

Jun 2013 - Present

Director Of Communications - Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital

Denver, Co

I was responsible for all of the internal and external communication efforts at the hospital. While this position helped hone my skills in internal communications, public relations, social media positioning and crisis communications, I also worked for the first time in a non-profit setting in a mission-driven organization. This was a tremendous learning experience in aligning the communication strategies and tactics with the different motivations and business objectives that come with such an organization.St. Joe's is also in the process of building a new hospital. I led the communications efforts for that, as part of a cross-functional steering committee that also looked at the cultural and operational aspects of the move to the new facility. This position also required a strong community relations component, as the hospital has a strong presence in its neighborhood, from a both a clinical and a charitable standpoint.

Jul 2011 - Jun 2013

Corporate Communications Lead

This position gave me experience working with a large, high-profile company in a corporate setting. ProBuild is the nation’s largest supplier of building materials with 11,000 employees and 450 locations.I managed strategic communication for ProBuild, consulting and advising C-level executives on company-wide communication initiatives. This included a lot of change management strategy and tactics. I partnered with ProBuild's Human Resources team as the company was moving to a shared services model and undertaking a major transformation of company policies and procedures. I also gained web design and management and experience. I managed the planning, development, implementation, design and functionality for ProBuild's new corporate intranet, including maintaining user interface and all content. The redesign resulted in a 52 percent increase in employee usage in just the first three months. This position also gave me insight into the dynamics that exist between a corporate headquarters and a large, far-flung work force, as I was responsible for monitoring and reporting on employee feedback. I oversaw focus groups and ran surveys to obtain feedback on on-going company initiatives, and I used this feedback to advise senior leadership on strategies and tactics to better engage the workforce.

Nov 2009 - Jul 2011

Corporate Communications Director

Denver, Co

I was Frontier's Corporate Communications Director when the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring in April, 2008. This was the most difficult challenge I have faced as a communications professional, but it also provided a tremendous learning opportunity in the areas of crisis communication, change management strategies and strategic employee and key stakeholder communications. Some of my key accomplishments during this time included:• Expertly managing company messaging of “business as usual” during company’s 18-month Chapter 11 restructuring efforts. This included maintaining key communication platforms and relationships with internal and external audiences that contributed to consumer confidence in continuing to book flights and support the “home town airline.”• Created social media platforms that resulted in new channels to communicate directly with customers. This allowed Frontier to offer promotions on these channels that drove additional, incremental revenue to company’s bottom line with no additional costs. These channels also provided a repository of grass-roots supporters.• Cultivated relationships with government entities and key external stakeholders that resulted in speaking opportunities for senior executives to present Frontier’s perspective on pending litigation and potential tax incentives.• Managing a flexible, well-informed, positively motivated staff in highly uncertain times.

Oct 2007 - Nov 2009

Public Information Officer

Denver. Co

This proved to the be the ultimate training ground for a communications professional, as I encountered a diverse set of circumstances that regularly changed, often on a daily basis.I was the primary spokesperson for local, national and international media relations. This included providing strategic, dynamic communications response to on-going crisis situations such as Sept. 11, 2011, several major aircraft incidents involving loss of life and two blizzards that shut down the airport. I effectively communicated the airport's key messages to local, national and international audiences under extreme pressure and tight deadlines. This included conducting hundreds of live interviews and dealing with extremely combative reporters at times. In additional to my reactive duties with the media, I also proactively place positive information about airport projects in local, national and international print and broadcast outlets, resulting in more than $8 million in positive PR valuation for the airport in a five year period.I was also the designated airport representative for public speaking engagements, for crisis planning exercises and for certain interactions with city, state and federal government agencies.
