About Steven Kaplan

As an entrepreneur, author, and executive, I’ve spent my career bridging the gap between complex technology and tangible business value. I’ve founded and led IT businesses from the ground up, successfully transitioning them into sales to be publicly traded firms, and held executive roles overseeing finance, customer engagement, and strategic growth. Alongside these accomplishments, I’ve authored nine industry books and co-created several comic book series that explore the intersection of technology and storytelling.Currently, I’m leading the Public Sector practice at Tessell where we help federal and SLG organizations harness the full potential of cloud computing to optimize database performance, drive down costs, and improve service delivery.     Many former clients followed me to Nutanix where I engaged with them on financial analyses showing the tremendous value of adopting HCI. The channel program was in excellent shape, and I decided to focus exclusively on building a financial analysis mindset for the Nutanix field teams. While starting just with me, the CS Finance team quickly grew to be global in scale. The financial analysis practice helped result in a much higher closure rate as well as expanded customer adoption. Our TCO metrics have been mentioned in multiple earnings calls. Other Nutanix accomplishments include writing an article that ultimately resulted in tremendous publicity for Nutanix, forging the partnership with Citrix that included support of Nutanix's hypervisor, applying Moore's Law to HCI financial analysis, publicizing Nutanix's VCDX contingency, writing my book on The ROI Story, innumerable keynotes, podcasts, trainings, videos, and other presentations. My most recent notable accomplishment is my WP on how Nutanix Clusters lowers the cost of public cloud native.
