Reserve battalion Survey & Design Chief responsible for construction management, standard management, and design review of military construction projects. Responsible for a team of ten personnel, over $2MM in professional survey, engineering, and design equipment along with six military vehicles.

I led and managed an excellent team of engineers and designers working on mechanical and building control systems to meet precise thermal comfort, performance, and energy targets. I regularly interfaced with clients, lead conceptual design, and prepare reports to inform design. All designs implemented strategies and controls to optimize energy use and comply with, or exceed, building codes and the clients needs. Additionally, I offered guidance on mechanical construction issues and served as a Contracting Officer’s Representative. My position also included overseeing construction in both contingency and garrison environments, where I prioritized effective project management, safety, and cost control to achieve successful outcomes.

My primary responsibility was to design mechanical systems for buildings that meet the needs of a specific client, optimize energy use, and meet or exceed building code requirements. I have worked on buildings ranging from 5,000 to 500,000 square feet in size and ranging in use from BSL-3 labs, cGMP facilities, vivaria, to an aquarium. I have significant field experience including pre-design site investigation, construction administration, and installation approval. I am accustomed to working with personnel on all levels of the construction team to ensure a project is built to design and specification. I earned more responsibility with the firm at a rate faster than most employees. After two years of full time employment, I typically was in charge of a junior engineer, two draftsmen, and multiple support staff. I would also coordinate with multiple disciplines, architects, and contractors to ensure a fully functional design so the product was both build-able and biddable.
