About Steve Lickteig
I help companies and individuals build their audio business or make their existing business better. I can also fix broken editorial systems and help make your editorial team stronger and faster. Before that, I was the executive producer of podcasts and audio for NBC NEWS and MSNBC, a top-10 podcast network. I managed the team responsible for production and strategy of original podcasts and audio programming.Previously, I ran the SLATE PODCAST NETWORK, overseeing 25 shows including several I helped to create: Hit Parade, The Secret History of the Future and Slate’s daily news podcast, What Next. Prior to Slate, I was EP of NPR’s Weekend All Things Considered. My team covered breaking news, politics and culture for more than 4 million listeners each week. And we increased audience by15%, the only NPR news show to see double-digit growth. I started at NPR in 1997 as an overnight production assistant and went on to work for every show produced by NPR News.I also spent time at Sirius XM as EP of The Bob Edwards Show, and I’ve worked as a reporter, producer and anchor at several commercial and public radio stations around the country. I began my audio career as a DJ at KOFO-AM in Ottawa, KS spinning (literally) the country hits. In 2011, my documentary film, OPEN SECRET, had its world premiere at the Hot Docs film festival in Toronto and was broadcast in six countries, including the U.S. on Al Jazeera America. I also assistant directed WAITING FOR HOCKNEY, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.I was raised on a Kansas farm and now live in Washington D.C. with my wife and two sons. And a long time ago I was a United States Marine.
