PCD Systems built alliances in the healthcare industry to help clients improve quality of care, enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction, and reduce costs. Architected an ISO-9001 certified Quality Management System (QMS) based on Lean principles. The system could integrate with existing data systems to collect, monitor, analyze, and ensure clinical quality and protocol adherence, rationalizing processes and ensuring every component added value. Additionally, for a multi-site oncology clinic, architected a client-specific ISO-style QMS to enable them to fulfill their Co-Management Agreement with their partner hospital. Collaborated with medical doctors, hospitals, clinics, government agencies, payers, care team members, and legal and business experts to redesign the system to coordinate oncology care in the State of Vermont. Applied Lean Six Sigma and ISO 9001 Quality Systems to the entire chain of health care service, tunneling through organizational barriers to ensure highest quality outcomes and continuous improvement.Designed technologies to manage payment bundles based on multi-disciplinary care plans, primarily in oncology. The institution developed and deployed its own electronic medical record system (EMR) serving 9,000+ users. Responsible for architecture, design, data, development, test, and deployment of the EMR. Re-built the product and its technical foundation to support product evolution, porting the EMR client to the .NET platform, re-tooling the product based on a modern relational data model, and delivered new search tools to enable clinicians to find information they need more easily.Drastically improved coding practices by introducing best practices including estimation, Scrum, monthly sprints, code review, source code control. Multiple pooled COM objects queried several databases and generated custom XML. Handled requirements, specification, functional and UI design, and implementation. Architected and built efficient XML sorting and pagination system, plus user permissions API. Led successful Web projects on server- and client-side, and invented solution for installing and updating browser plugins on client PC.Led teams that invented automated systems to drive stress/load issues in the database and server code, and to measure user-perceived performance across the entire product. Instructional courseware team, established under my leadership, that built 15 award-winning innovative educational programs for the newly launched Macintosh computer.Responsible for overall product development, including requirements specifications, software architecture, user interface design, performance modeling, and quality assurance. Hired and trained staff in Macintosh programming, then a brand new field. Advised other project teams on management techniques, user interface design and testing.Partnered with faculty to specify, design, and deploy educational programs. At the request of Quebec government, our products were translated into French for use in Canadian schools.Collaboratively designed and implemented InterNews, a Macintosh USENet news reader. Pre-Internet, this system surveyed thousands of respondents by email, with answers automatically analyzed by a server.
