Additional proposals included improvements to defect / escalation tracking, automated performance / coverage analysis, and improvements to the automation infrastructure.Proposed and led efforts to improve the SourceOne automation infrastructure that reduced the time to run automation by almost 24 hours. Introduced parallelism and data caching into critical paths to speed up analysis and reporting in the existing VMware Workstation environment.Designed a mechanism to parallelize automation suites using VMware ESX/Lab Manager. The migration to ESX/Lab Manager replaced multiple racks of legacy automation servers with a single ESX environment that was shared across organizations to maximize server usage and reduce cost.Proposed, introduced, and led the effort to develop a cumulative hot fix utility that reduced the time to generate a hot fix from multiple weeks to 1-3 days. The cumulative hot fix process reduced customer maintenance windows by patching multiple products to the current revision and only needing at most a single reboot per server.

Managed a team of three architects and three engineers that designed and prototyped the Polaris General Architecture and Polaris Service Specifications. Polaris was a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) designed to build the next generation of SeaChange Video on Demand and Advertising products. Polaris was defined to meet cable/telecommunications requirements of high availability, highly scalable architecture, standards compliant, and enabled application and resource sharing across SeaChange applications.Organized and chaired a three day Polaris Architectural Summit to bring together 17 architects and 14 managers from across the corporation to define and agree on Polaris architectural tenets, goals, and milestones.Used Agile Techniques (SCRUM) and Test Driven Development (TDD) to create the architectural documents and a prototype of the streaming services that demonstrated a 10x performance improvement over the existing systems on comparable hardware using Open Source technologies such as Linux, Java, MySQL, JBoss, and SOA/REST-based technologies.Created and implemented best practices to introduce automated engineering and testing tools to the Axiom and Core Services organizations to improve developer productivity and software quality. Examples included BoundsChecker, VTune, Parasoft C++ Test, CruiseControl, JUnit/NUnit, VMware, Test Driven Development (TDD), and Wikis to allow engineers to more efficiently organize engineering information.
