From January 2014 this is a projects role, targeted at transitioning big-four bank’s legacy Solaris & RedHat Linux infrastructure to a new private cloud. Inputting into architecture and design decisions, right through to technical lead and escalation point in implementation phase under ITIL.Linux technical lead rolling out VMware SRM for disaster recovery, leading to accelerated recovery times capable of meeting extremely demanding RTOs, resulting in increased customer satisfaction.Authored design documentation and runbooks for DR remediation of Oracle Linux under Oracle VM.Onshore escalation point for Solaris 11 rollout on T3, T4 & T5 hardware, configuration of OVMSS, LDOMs, nonglobal zones & branded zones, OpsCentre (aka EMOC).Technical lead working closely with project architect for complex Linux migrations, encompassing an upgrade of platform and storage, as well as rationalisation of filesystem, volume manager and clustering software. Thus enabling the migration of multi-terabyte source systems within a single outage window, and delivering a simplified software stack and reduced support and licensing costs.From 2011 to 2013 my role was in supporting 1000+ Solaris and RedHat Linux hosts (many under Veritas Cluster Server) within a global wholesale banking environment. Maintaining Solaris and Linux server estate operational health and troubleshooting BAU issues, always working to strict SLAs.Authored the handover process for receiving newly commissioned hosts into BAU support, including ensuring that proper documentation and knowledge transfer was a deliverable.Technical lead on cyclic maintenance, patching (and upgrading storage and/or clustering software where appropriate) to very tight outage windows, using Live Upgrade (Solaris) and YUM (Linux).Principal member of the team participating in full-scale disaster recovery exercises every three months, drawing on EMC storage skills (SRDF & Solutions Enabler).
