Primary architect and overall group manager for SQL Server CE. SQL-CE is an embedded database engine for use in mobile applications or desktop aplications. I built the core storage engine and worked to deliver SQL-CE to over 20 different internal Microsoft products and we exposed SQL-CE to external developers as a platform that was tightly integrated with Visual Studio. I grew from a engineer to the product unit manager for SQL-CE over the course of 3 years. I transitioned the project to India and gained experience in managing complex and difficult organizational transitions. I designed a unique architecture in SQL-CE that used a technique called shadow paging to enable durable transactions. I obtained various parents related to the design.

Grew from an individual contributor to development manager of Outlook Express over the course of 4 years. Wrote the MIME/internet e-mail parsing engine, known as MIMEOLE, that was eventually used in Exchange, Outlook, and Hotmail and accounts for a large percentage of the e-mail sent over the internet. Also built a lightweight database engine called DirectDB that became widely used inside Microsoft. I also developed MHTML, and worked with key people to define the standard. I built the Internet Explorer protocol handlers that allow MHTML to be rendered inside of IE. MHTML (.mht) was also built into Office and is still used widely as a Web-ready version of Office documents. I obtained patents specific to inventions in Outlook Express.
