After starting in the entertainment industry doing commercial and character voice-over work and audiobooks, I switched to tech in 2017 after graduating from Code Fellows with a focus on JavaScript. I started as a Salesforce Developer I at Bluewolf and had an excellent team of engineers pushing high quality through thorough code review, strict code standards, and extensive pair-programming mentorship.I grew through Developer II and Developer III positions into a Senior Salesforce Developer at Expedia, where I defined code standards for Apex, Aura, Visualforce, and Lightning Web Components, as well as a code review process, where we previously had none. I also brought technical documentation skills taught to me at Bluewolf and worked with Product Managers and support to grow those talents and defined the team templates for Confluence documentation.I was the first developer on the team to create Lightning Web Components and have subsequently created, recorded, and written training materials on writing Jest tests as one of the only team members who had previous experience with the framework from working on React applications. I've even had a couple pull requests merged into the Salesforce repos or raised issues with suggested fixes that were used.I worked with product management to help define new onboarding standards and processes for our team, as we had a style of "trial by fire" that did not contribute to team well-being and have since pair programmed as part of mentorship with several new team members, including new grad program members.My name is frequently brought up as a first point of contact for engineering questions about Salesforce development. When we have high-priority, high-visibility projects, I am the first resource requested as an individual contributor. I am particularly well-versed with Omni routing, as that was the scope of a significant amount of my work as a Dev II and Dev III, and even created a 10-minute "intro to Omni" video series with animations that have been shared with engineering, support, and call center agents and supervisors alike.I am looking to continue a career in an individual contributor role, where business has a clear vision of user story requirements and acceptance criteria, product managers understand those visions and organize resources, and engineers are leaned on for recommendations, design, building, testing, documentation, and maintenance, as well as helping bring other team members up to be just as reliable.
