I bring more than 20 yrs public sector experience in urban design, land use and master planning, architecture, development review, project management, cultural heritage planning and the design of public facing transit infrastructure (with development) in major transit investment projects.A passionate advocate and collaborator by nature, I enjoy working with others to create cutting edge visions, inspiring transformational change and how that change shapes cities, places and memorable experiences for people. As an experienced project manager and ‘closer’, I bring the most complex projects to fruition completing these on-time and under budget. Having led a number of high profile projects and special initiatives with various public sector organizations. I’ve worked closely with the public, stakeholders, design review panels and the development industry on master plans, precinct and public realm plans, local area and secondary plans, corridor studies, transit oriented development, mixed-use/tall building proposals; urban design policy studies, streetscape strategies, municipal design competition strategies and Official Plan initiatives. Proud achievements in my career: (1) co-leading a bold vision and master plan for Mississauga’s Downtown City Centre (Downtown21), including its implementation through a progressive regulatory regime entailing form based design codes; branding the Downtown’s premiere ‘Exchange District’ - delivering on its streets, blocks and public realm vision adjacent to Square One Mall.(2) saving the David Dunlop/Donalda Barn from the wrecker’s ball - one of the most unique architect designed barn structures in Toronto (North York) with a great story and ties to national significance; (3) having a vision for the creation and successful launch of the Municipal Urban Designers' Roundtable in 2007 (Ontario) which continues as a highly popular public sector forum, drawing participation from more than 25 municipalities and public agencies in the GGHA; and (4) helping both a developer and a rate payers group to realize a positively impactful award winning commercial development suited to the special character and context of the Klienburg-Nashville Heritage Conservation District. ‘Lean’ trained and Yellow Belt certified, I also hold professional membership with a number of key organizations that advance the importance of planning, urban design/urbanism and cultural heritage.
