From a very young age I have had a passion for steam and vintage vehicles, with my family owning a 1919 Clayton & Shuttleworth Traction Engine as well as a selection of other vintage vehicles. There’s nothing better than getting stuck into a problem or broken part and coming out with the satisfaction when you get things working properly again such as the restoration of my Fordson Major which is nearing completion now as I embark on my next project of a 6” scale Foden Steam waggon.Over the years I have had several different mechanical and engineering positions at companies ranging from a plant fitter at Quinto Cranes where I studied mechanics and learnt key fabrication skills which I use every week in the workshop at home, as well as an engineer at Thomson Sawmills where it was crucial to get machines repaired and running again quickly, safely and precisely to minimise down-time. I then went into working at Kings Boiler Hire where I reconditioned industrial boilers putting my steam knowledge to good practise. Since then I have now moved to the Engineer Surveyor role putting my engineering knowledge to good use with inspections of plant and machines against industry standards and regulations. With ESIS I have gained a HNC in mechanical Engineering and have registered with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers at EngTech level with the aim for progression.
