CMU T&E's mission is to empower Carnegie Mellon University alumni and students to achieve their goals in tech and entrepreneurship and inspire them to dream bigger and maximize their potential. The Builders Community is focused on building a structure and platform to facilitate connections, provide mentorship, develop programming and skill-building for those in the CMU community to actualize their ideas and further their aspirations. As the lead in Pittsburgh, I support efforts to develop programming for CMU Alumni and current students promoting our vision of a stronger entrepreneurship ecosystem across the CMU community located locally in our region.Our team designed and executed the Build Sprint Accelerator (https://www.cmute.io/build-sprint), a six-week program for CMU T&E entrepreneurs with the inaugural cohort consisting of over 25 Fellow Companies and 25 Mentors culminating in a Demo Day showcasing the startups and projects of the next generation of CMU founders.

The Global Shapers Community is an initiative of the World Economic Forum consisting of a grassroots network of young people from ages 18-27 working together to address local, regional, and global challenges in alignment with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals. With more than 13,000 members, the Global Shapers Community spans over 500 city-based hubs across 150 countries creating projects that address the needs of their community. We believe in exemplifying the idea of "Think Globally, Act Locally."For 2021-2022, our Pittsburgh Hub has focused our main Shaper project on addressing food waste and sustainability through a food waste diversion and composting operation in partnership with community-based organization InvolveMint. Our hub also was a contributing organizing partner in establishing the Inter-Racial Dialogue Series inter-hub initiative.Elected as Curator of the Pittsburgh Hub for the 2022-2023 Shaper Year. Spearheaded our hub's placement into the Climate Reality Project Incubator program with a $3,000 grant focused on circular and sustainable food ecosystems and climate mitigation in Pittsburgh. Fostered ongoing partnerships with organizations in Pittsburgh such as the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, Sankofa Village, Climate Reality Project, and ReImagine Jobs to catalyze events and programming benefiting the broader community.

Supporting the Pittsburgh health tech and life sciences startup ecosystem by creating programming and events, fostering more interconnectedness across our community, and building more accessible pathways for entrepreneurs and entrepreneur-supporters to grow and scale their solutions. My role directly supports early-stage startups in our ecosystem through our flagship LifeX Accelerator Program, occurring twice a year in the Spring and Fall.

AcademyHealth is a nonpartisan, nonprofit professional organization dedicated to advancing the fields of health services research and health policy. The Health Information Technology (HIT) Interest Group encompasses health information systems and technologies used in health care delivery and management. The Group focuses on the use of HIT to improve health care quality, optimize patient safety, and reduce the cost of health care. Group members share an interest in the use of HIT to support and enhance patient engagement, patient-centered care, population health, disease management, coordination and continuity of care, exchange of health care information, and the timely access and reuse of health care data across the care continuum.

Expansion of my role to directly support our patient safety initiatives related to technology and autonomous solutions. On the national scale, I am supporting our team in the Patient Safety Technology Challenge (PSTC), which seeks to raise the visibility of patient safety and medical error through partnering with existing competitions and innovation programs to focus the attention of students, innovators, and entrepreneurs on the issue. Additionally, as we inject our funding to catalyze the creative potential of novel ideas and existing projects for patient safety, we are building toward a documentary to highlight the whole experience. Key partnerships secured include SXSW's Innovation Awards, the Rice Business Plan Competition, university-based hackathons (e.g., Johns Hopkins, MIT, University of Pittsburgh, etc.), and more.For the Pittsburgh region, we are focused on the Pittsburgh Regional Autonomous Patient Safety (RAPS) initiative seeking to establish our innovation ecosystem to enable Pittsburgh to become a leading innovation hub for patient safety technologies, leveraging our assets in clinical care and life sciences innovation with robotics, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and autonomy.

The Jewish Healthcare Foundation (JHF) is an activist and grantmaking foundation with three operating arms: the Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative (PRHI), Health Careers Futures (HCF), and the Women's Health Activist Movement Global (WHAMglobal). JHF offers a unique brand of activist philanthropy to advance healthcare innovation, advocacy, collaboration, and education in the interest of better population health. JHF focuses on a variety of important healthcare challenges such as patient safety, quality improvement, seniors and aging, adolescent behavioral health, HIV/AIDS, women's health, health innovation, workforce development, and more. My role leverages my skills in program management, data monitoring and visualization, and research to support our Feinstein Fellowships (Patient Safety & Salk Health Activist), the PA Perinatal Quality Collaborative (PA PQC), a national patient safety initiative to establish a National Patient Safety Board (NPSB) at the federal level, a regional initiative to build an ecosystem for autonomous patient safety technologies, and other health innovation projects (i.e., healthcare safety tech competition, young health innovators fellowship, etc.). I also prepare and produce the show notes of our podcast, Up Next for Patient Safety.

Gateway Health Plan is a Medicaid Managed Care Organization based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My work focused on supporting the implementation of a population health project addressing social determinants of health issues on the Northside communities of Pittsburgh. Through a multi-sector partnership between a local health system (Highmark Inc., Allegheny Health Network, Gateway Health), health department (Allegheny County Health Department, Department of Human Services), foundation (Buhl Foundation), and community-based organizations (Project Destiny Inc., One Northside) the program was designed to leverage these connections to provide wrap-around services and close care gaps for residents in the community. This initiative, Thrive18, utilized a hub-and-spoke model that would connect residents to services that could address their social needs and reconnect them with appropriate health care services as needed. Through a team of outreach workers, composed of residents from the neighborhoods Thrive18 was implemented in, they were able to identify and address the urgent basic needs of at-risk residents, and facilitate an improvement in overall community health while concurrently reducing costly healthcare utilization (emergency department utilization, readmissions, etc.).

The Salk Health Activist Fellowship focuses on teaching fellows to build a toolkit with the skills, strategies, and tactics to get from an idea of a passionate issue to creating actionable change. Throughout the fellowship, fellows were exposed to a variety of experts including activists, policymakers, legislators, members of the media, and entrepreneurs to learn the different levers that can affect change.The fellowship culminated in a Health Activist Expo, where each fellow had the opportunity to pitch and present their ideas for addressing an issue they were passionate about to over three hundred attendees at the event. The pitch I developed focused on addressing the issue of provider-patient mistrust and proposing various ways the Pittsburgh community could tackle it locally.

The Patient Safety Fellowship focuses on teaching fellows LEAN methodology, quality improvement frameworks, and implementation science principles to improve safety in the healthcare setting. The Fine Awards in partnership with the Fine Foundation and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation awarded healthcare organizations with a track record of excellence in safety and teamwork across various quality improvement projects.The program this year was the 10th anniversary of the Fine Awards, where fellows were paired with previous Fine Award winners to analyze whether their success remained consistent after receiving the award. These organizations were measured by whether they sustained their program success, spread it internally and externally throughout the organization, and developed a strong culture for quality improvement. Teams then made the case for why their Fine Award site succeeded on those metrics and should receive a $15,000 award.

Carnegie Mellon University's Center for Behavioral and Decision Research (CBDR) is an interdisciplinary research center that brings together scholars from behavioral economics, psychology, organizational behavior, marketing, and public policy to investigate topics that are both on the forefront of affiliates' respective fields of research and of interest to the public.Thrive Lab (Technology, Health, Risk, InnoVation, Environment Research Lab) conducts research that helps individuals and institutions make hard decisions, involving complex tradeoffs and deep uncertainty, in an era of rapid progress in science and technology. The lab's focus is on the many intersections of decision-making with health, risk, technology, and the environment.During my time as a Research Assistant, I worked across a variety of projects for the Center for Behavioral and Decision Research and the Engineering and Public Policy Department at Carnegie Mellon University (THRIVE Labs). Projects included: Making Healthy Decisions (Eat Smart & Your Move), MyHealthyPregnancy App, and a dictator game study (incorporating a donation condition).

Alpha Phi Omega is a national co-ed service fraternity with Kappa Chapter based at Carnegie Mellon University. We focus on promoting our service program within our campus and engaging in service with the greater Pittsburgh community. Some of our service projects have included partnerships with; Boys & Girls Club, Ronald McDonald Family House, Jubilee Soup Kitchen, Produce 2 People (Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank), Rise Against Hunger (rebranded as Stop Hunger Now!), Journey (Girl Scouts Association), and Merit Badge University (Boy Scouts Association). Although we are a service organization, we have three core values of Leadership, Friendship, and Service, each of which bolsters one another. Therefore, we also provide leadership experience and opportunities for our members to grow both personally and professionally through workshops and taking on leadership roles in the chapter.I was awarded the Distinguished Service Key, a chapter's highest distinction it can bestow on a member for outstanding service to the fraternity.
