Performed Consultative Examinations for the Minnesota Disability Determination Service examining ap-plicants for Social Security Disability Insurance. Consulted with counseling staff at local community colleges regarding students with mental disorders and personality disorders. Provided 24-hour “on-call” emergency psychological services.

Provided all psychological consultation services to Virginia Regional Medical Center Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (CARF and JACHO accredited) for patients, families, and members of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team (OT, PT, SLP, Nursing, Physicians).

FMC Rochester serves the U.S. Dept. of Justice-Bureau of Prisons as a major psychiatric and medical evaluation and treatment center for federal inmates. I was responsible for all psychological evaluations and treatment for 25 severely mentally ill inpatients on the transition and transfer unit (new and departing inmates). I served on an evaluation team consisting of psychology, psychiatry, nursing, social workers, that determined patient’s diagnosis and treatment needs. I completed evaluations of mental illness, behavioral, cognitive, emotional difficulties, and substance abuse problems. I provided emergency crisis intervention services for suicidal, violent, and psychotic patients throughout the prison hospital. I facilitated group treatment. I testified in numerous federal and administrative hearings regarding involuntary medication and pre-release dangerousness evaluations.

APA approved internship site. Provided goal-oriented, time-limited, psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups using behavioral and cognitive orientations. Co-led a stress management group and shyness group. Provided weekly emergency and intake coverage. Performed psychological assessments using objective and projective measures (learning disabilities, intellectual, personality, vocational assessment) and wrote interpretive reports. Made presentations to university groups on test taking skills, time management, and assertiveness. Attended weekly seminars, in-service training, and presented at case conferences. Seminar topics included: cognitive therapy for couples, psychopharmacology, assessment and treatment of personality disorders, MMPI-2, and the Millon Scales and Personality Theory.
