In his 12th year at ELD, Steve has made himself an indispensible member of our team. When Steve began as our Lawn and Hedge Manager he was fresh out of college. Every year since then he has worked hard to better his skills, expand his knowledge not only of his own area of expertise, but all facets of island landscaping, and work to enhance our operational management and crew workflow. With the transitions of 2017 it was clear Steve was ready to take over the bigger role as General Manager at ELD. He utilizes his landscape horticulture education, his on the job experience, and his self taught proficiency with Spanish on a daily basis.Steve has also entrenched himself in our greater Nantucket community. He is an active advocate for Nantucket’s harbor water protection and as a member of Nantucket’s Fertilizer Advisory Committee he helps to create the best management practices regulations. Steve utilizes both his CORE and commercial pesticide licenses for ELD and his volunteer work. A lifelong learner, Steve takes courses and attends workshops whenever possible to ensure we are up to date with all industry standards.Steve’s easygoing demeanor and quiet internal determination make him the hub of our operations. An avid outdoorsman, when not at ELD you might find him walking his dog in the moors, hiking his beloved Maine Mountains, or refining his golf swing.
